Collection: Mayanthi Jayawardena: Between the Lines August 2026

With this solo exhibition, artist Mayanthi Jayawardena of Serendib Creative explores life between the lines in a new series which explores the space where realism and abstraction intersect—where vibrancy and depth coexist, and where nature and humanity find shared ground. Through layered color fields and organic forms that stretch and bend across borders, Mayanthi reflects on the complexity of existing in in-between spaces. The work invites viewers to consider growth, resilience, and identity as fluid, evolving, and shaped by both structure and freedom.
About the Artist
Mayanthi Jayawardena is the multi-disciplinary artist behind Serendib Creative LLC. Mayanthi is a muralist, fine arts painter, children’s book illustrator, clothing designer and photographer. Mayanthi’s award winning art is internationally recognized and has been featured from North Carolina to Australia. Mayanthi describes her art as an expressive blend of her Sri Lankan culture and life experiences. Her murals are colorful, incorporate nature, people, and span from abstract to realism. She is eager for more opportunities to create unique and eye catching designs for the communities she serves.
Prior to becoming a full-time artist, Mayanthi worked in the field of sexual violence prevention & advocacy for over nine years in higher education and with national leaders such as Tarana Burke. During her career she began using art as a form of healing. Through these experiences, she decided to take the leap to invest in herself and her art full time.
Mayanthi has blended her art and her advocacy to continue to impact the communities she serves. Many of her pieces celebrate the beauty and power of being a woman, while others express her Sri Lankan pride and pain, her latest draws awareness to the importance of mental health and self-love, and others share a world of beauty, color, and life through her eyes. Mayanthi is forever grateful for the opportunities and support that she has received and will continue to appreciate the serendipity of her journey.
