Getting the Hang of It
There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to placing artwork on walls, but generally, if you are hanging artwork above furniture, the idea placement is about 6 to 8 inches above the piece of furniture. If the art will be on a wall that has no furnishings, then use your line of sight as a guide. A common rule is to hang art at eye level, which is roughly 60 inches from the floor to the center or midpoint of the art. However, you can break this rule to create different effects. For example, hanging a large piece higher on the wall can make a room feel larger. When hanging multiple pieces, space them a few inches apart. Leaving about 3 to 6 inches of space between each piece tends to work well.
